Stone Buff of Raleigh, NC was contracted to restore the granite floor in the monument for the Wright Brothers located in Kitty Hawk, NC. During the restoration project a nearby county has major wild fires. You may see the smoke and ashes in the photos. This section of the monument has not had it's doors open to the public for 20 years and on the 25th of June 2008 the ribbon will be cut and the monument will be open once again to allow tourists to climb up the stairs that lead to the observatory at the top of the monument that sits on Kill Devil Hills over looking a beautiful view of the city below and the Atlantic Ocean.
